Where the elite meet to teach!

The National Science Center is building a talented cadre of math, science, and technology teachers to work with America’s youth. An action-packed experience you’ll talk about for years awaits you at The Fast Track.

Fast Track Science (FTS) is a fun, engaging, and hands-on curriculum targeting 4th-8th grade students. FTS is available in two formats, 1) week-long summer camp, and 2) an after school program (33+ hours of instruction). FTS uses radio-controlled cars to teach math and science concepts with a race car theme, using real-world applications.

Students participate in team-based challenges using manipulative materials (tape measures, digital scales, stop watches, and radio-controlled cars) that demand the real process of science using the real application of math.

The NSC provides the curriculum, kits, marketing materials, training, and teacher compensation. In return, the NSC asks the teachers to help recruit the students and provide the host facility.

That's where you come in ...

Fast Track Science experiences are your opportunity to create lasting change in the educational community as elite American educators are trained to transfer their conceptual knowledge of math and science to U.S. classrooms.

The National Science Standards are an integral part of the FTS curriculum. Skills in FTS are measurement and basic computations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) along with applications such as averaging, graphing data, making simple equations and graphing them, and problem solving. (Higher Order Thinking Skills or HOTS) The systematic collecting and analyzing of data as a basis for formulating conclusions is proven throughout the camp. Newton’s Laws of Motion and relevant physics terminology are demonstrated as they relate to race car driving and keeping the car on the track. You never knew math and science could be so much fun!
