
The National Science Center's Fort Discovery is joining NASA's celebration of "50 Years in Space: A reflection on the accomplishments in space of the last 50 years and looking forward to the future."
Week-Long Space Week Activities
Fort Discovery's explainer staff will conduct StarLab presentations and space-related activities on gravity, micro-gravity, Newton's Laws of Motion, rocket launching and centripetal force. Also, the NSC's new "Mars Probe Yard" exhibit will be available for student interaction. This exhibit promises to be a favorite for all visitors.

Presentations will include topics on the International Space Station and the first steps of Project Mercury through the intermediate Gemini to the historic landing of Apollo. Presentations will take place in the PowerStation Theater.
May 9

Mr. Iocano's activities will include the launching of Triple Bottle and Fire Arrows Air Rockets. Students will be challenged to build a rocket that flies farther and soars higher than any other students' in the class with accuracy in a single direction. Presentations will take place at the Fort Discovery bus turn-around area.
