Description: This applet is an interactive demonstration of the importance of Point of View or Frames of Reference.
To try this simulation: Left-click your mouse to go between the different views.
What's Going On? Looking at something from one Point of View (Frame of Reference) does not always give you the complete story. The initial point of view is through a camera lens circling around some cones. It looks like the cones are moving but when you click on the overhead view, you discover that it was the camera that was moving and the cones are stationary.
There's More! The earth is spinning constantly about its axis. If you look at this simulation from space, you would see a different motion for the camera and cones. In other words, each different and additional Point of View provides more information to help understand the situation.
